Customer Wine Rack Decoration Project

Versatile and modular wall mounted wine rack system
A Single Set of The Wine Saddle
We recently had the pleasure of working with a customer who emailed us about wanting to build a customized wine wall to display a collection of wine bottles. Travis wanted to mount these wine racks with our "Wine Saddle" wine rack system. This modular system gives you the flexibility to mount as many or as little wine bottles as you please making your project truly customized.

Over the last 10 years we've had customers mount this wine racking system on cabinets, pantries, under cabinetry, in stairways and uniquely designed in wine cellars and wine rooms in various homes and restaurants.

Since Travis had a specific number of wine bottles he wanted to mount, he emailed us to see if he could order an amount which wasn't listed on our website - and, of course, we were glad to accomodate.

A few weeks went by and we followed up to see how the project was coming along and we received these images of the final installation:

The LED lights behind the rack change colors!
Great for bars, cellars or "man caves"

This is one of the reasons why we are so excited about our Wine Saddle wine rack. We truly give the customer the ability to create a customized wine rack without confining them to the look of your typical wine rack. For the DIY in you or for those looking to have a unique look to their bar, cellar or "ManCave"!

Visit our website and look at our customer gallery for additional pictures of how our customers have decorated with the Wine Saddle and with all our other wine racks.

Travis offered his handy services if you would like to have one of these built for you! You can email him at travodesign@gmail.com.

Wine Racks For Cabinets!

We recently have been receiving a lot of questions about how to use your kitchen or pantry cabinets as additional wine storage space. At first we were a little surprised or puzzled by the request but on second thought, a pantry or cabinet is the perfect place to store wine! Most experts recommend storing wine in a dark environment away from the light and about 98% of the day, your pantry or cabinet would remain closed!

The next question is, how can I properly store wines in my cabinets? Since the ideal position to store a wine is on the bottle's side, you'll need some sort of racking system to make sure the bottles don't go rolling around and for ease of access.

At Wine-Wall.com we have a few solutions that will assist you in filling up that cabinet with a wine storage solution. Here are two:

1. The Wine Saddle - Modular, versatile and affordable!
The Wine Saddle
The Wine Saddle is a unique wine racking system that allows you to mount a wine bottle to any surface. The saddles are made of a durable plastic and have a matte black finish with 2 mounting holes. Depending on how many bottles you would like to mount, the Wine Saddle could be the ideal solution to customize a space for your wine collection.

Visit the product page by clicking here.

The Exibit-3 Wine Rack in Oak
2. The Exibit Line Of Wine Racks - Decorative and functional!
The Exibit line of wine racks are available in a 3-botttle and 6-bottle configuration on our website and come in pine, oak or mahogany finish. The "hooks" that hold the wine bottle are made of the same plastic as our Wine Saddle. Also, like our Wine Saddle, the Exibit line of wine racks can be customized to your space. We've made floor to ceiling 24-bottle racks as well as 4 bottle racks to fit a cubby or cabinet.

Visit hte product page by clicking here.

One thing we want all our customers to know is that we're always more than happy to work with you to provide you with the ideal wine storage solution. Since all of our wood wine racks are built on a per order basis, there is no additional customization fee!

African Mahogany Wall Wine Racks

We carefully select the quality and grade of our wood for our wine racks checking for unapealing knots, stains and make sure the grain is visually stunning - ensuring our customers get a quality product. However, every once in a while we pick up a batch of wood that leaves us speechless in terms of quality, look and feel. Like a good butcher, milling wood is an art and over the years, we've come to work with a great selection of milling companies who supply us with amazing products.

We recently stocked our shelves with some African mahogany that is simply beautiful! African mahogany is a reddish-brown wood (naturally). What makes this wood so appealing to home decorators and hobbyists is the interlocking wood grain giving you that true and rich wood look.

The reason we chose to offer our Exibit line of wine racks is not only for these features but also because of the unique behavior of the interlocking grain in this varietal of wood. When walking across a room while looking at the wine rack or when different light sources hit the wine rack, it has a holographic look to it, almost as if the wine rack was shinning or shifting within the grain. We even added a video for you to see this effect. (Watch it full screen in HD for maximum effect!).

Another reason we chose to carry this varietal of wood in our line-up is because our customers mount these wine racks as showpieces or "art" on their walls adding an extra element of design as well as making the wine rack a conversation piece. Also, you don't have to feel too badly if the wine rack is empty!!

Exibit-3 :: Shown here in Mahogany
We've got plenty in stock! Available in a 3-bottle and 6-bottle configuration, or email us for a customized wine rack. We've made these into 4, 9 and even a 24-bottle floor-to-ceiling wine rack!

Wine-Wall.com's 12 (Wine-Related) Gifts For Christmas

Christmas is almost here and for many of us, there are still a few people to check off our list. One gift idea that always puts a smile on people's faces are wine-related gifts. For anyone into wine, whether a newbie or a master sommelier getting a unique wine related gift is one that always keeps on giving. Here is Wine-Wall.com's 2011 Twelve "Wine Gifts" of Christmas:

1. The Wine Tube

The wine tube is our best-selling wine rack. Based on our customer feedback, it's an affordable wine rack with a unique look, made of durable 18/8 stainless steel and can store up to 12 bottles mounted on your wall. This is a great decorative piece and allows you to view your wine bottles without removing them from the wine rack.

Click here to visit the product page.

2. The Wine Saddle

The Wine Saddle is a wine racking system like no other. It's arguably the most modular wine rack system in the world not only because it can conform to any space available but can also be expanded as a collection increases. This wine rack also steers away from the "Bottle butt" method of storing wines and allows you to see each label at a glance, without handling your bottles. For those precious and sensitive wines, this is an ideal wine storage solution.

Click here to visit the product page.

3. The Wine Drop Stop

This is our best selling wine accessory simply for the reason that it does exactly what it should do! It prevents wine from spilling onto table cloths, down the bottle or outside your glass and allows you to savor every last drop! This is a best seller over the holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas as all the fancy linens come out! This item can also be customized with your logo and be given out as a promotional item, wedding/party favor and even as an "out of the box" business card!

Click here to visit the product page

4. Wrought-Iron Wine Racks

There is no other material out there that speaks of durability, elegance and "old-style" like wrought-iron does. At Wine-Wall.com we have a wide selection of wrought-iron wine racks to store anywhere between 2 to 10 bottles and some have the ability to store bottles and stemware. Whether wall-mounted or counter-top, one of these wine racks would truly be a unique gift for that wine lover in your family.

Click here to view all our wrought-iron wine racks

5. The "Exibit" Line Of Wood Wine Racks

This line of wine rack is our best selling wood wine rack. Our "stock" wine racks come a 3-bottle and 6-bottle capacity but what makes this wine rack so great is the ability to customize this wine rack for your space without any additional setup or tooling costs. We've made 4-bottle, 9 bottle and even a floor-to-ceiling 24 bottle wine rack for our customers. An added benefit to this wine rack is that it comes in 3 wood types: pine, oak and mahogany. So depending on the look your are going for, we've got an Exibit wine rack that will suit your needs. Mounts easily to any wall or cabinet.

6. "Vintage View" Wine Racks

We've had the pleasure of working with the folks at Vintage View to distribute their unique line of wine racks. The Vintage view system is all about showing off your wines while minimizing the look of the wine rack. What's also good about these wine racks is that you can truly pack a lot of storage in a small space with their 2-deep and 3-deep wine racks. Available in a wide range of bottle capacities and in a satin black or platinum finish, these wine racks would go well in a cellar or a a showpiece in your restaurant or wine bistro.

Click here to see the Vintage View line of wine racks.

7. Wine Erase

We recently added this product to our line-up and we're really excited to see success from this. I personally recall, many occasions when I drank a thick Barolo or Cabernet Sauvignon and had purple teeth for the rest of the evening! Wine Erase removes stains from your lips and teeth by simply opening up the individually wrapped towelette and wiping your teeth or lips. This is a great product when going out with friends, dining at a restaurant or when you simply don't want to walk around with purple teeth!

8. The Wine Bottle Sling

Here's a neat product that's great as a stocking stuffer or as a decorative accent on a while related gift. The Wine Bottle Sling is a truly unique and convenient way to carry a bottle to your favorite BYOB restaurant, secures the bottle while you cool it in the mountain stream on your picnic, and may impress the hostess of the next dinner party so much that the bottle of wine may become art on the wall, instead of a beverage in a glass! An exceptionally detailed and constructed product available in black, silver or green.

9. Bottle Chandelier

We recently started carrying an expanded line of products on Wine-Wall.com that includes wine furniture, floor-standing wine racks and light fixtures as an added-value to our customers. One of our favorite products is the 12 Bottle Chandelier. The unique feature of this product is that you can customize it based on your particular interest and mood you are looking for in your wine room, cellar or restaurant. Want a bright light? Insert some white wine or clear bottles. Want a more cozy and intimate mood? Insert some red wine bottles.

Click here to visit the product page.

10. Bottle & Glass Chandelier

Looking for a functional and decorative piece? Our 6 bottle and glass light chandelier will give you just that. Great for a functional light fixture above a counter or bar top and allows you to store up to 6 wine bottles and an entire set of stemware making this an ideal piece for wine tasting room or for a decorative piece in a bar. The lighting elements are concealed behind white acrylic diffusers to add to its functionality and overall appeal.

11. Wine Caddies

Wine caddies are a great accessory for any wine lover. We've had many customers find various uses for our wine caddies whether it simply be as a decorative table center piece or a showpiece on top of a counter or furniture. We carry various wine caddy themes so that you can customize the look of your caddy based on your interest.

Click here to view our wine caddies.

12. "Tree" Wine Rack

This is a really unique piece as well and it originates from our customer's feedback to have a wine rack similar to our Wine Tube (see above) but made out of wood. So, we put our heads together and came up with the "Tree" Wine rack. What gives this wine rack a "tree" look is that when you mount wine bottles on the wine rack, the bottles lean a bit downwards, giving it the impression or a christmas tree. Don't worry, we've tested this product and the bottles securely stay into the wine rack! Comes in a sturdy oak wood

As usual, we recommend at least 10 business days for shipping. This year, all orders need to be placed by DECEMBER 9th, 2011!

Happy shopping and Happy Holidays from Wine-Wall.com

Happy New Year?

Wow! It's been a while since my last post. Well, it's been a busy holiday season over at Wine-Wall.com. Surprisingly, I would have to say a record season in terms of sales. We were anticipating a slowdown due to the economy but I think that a combination of increased visibility and marketing might have off-set any decrease in sales.

Well... Nothing much new, we've recently introduced a new wine thermometer to our line up, we're always updating our deco center with pictures to give you ideas on how to decorate with our wine racks AND stay tuned for the launch of the Exibit line of wine racks in, yes, cedar!! Nothing says "sophistication" more than the smell of cedar (inside wine cellars, the lining in cigar boxes...) and by popular demand, we will be carrying our Exibit wine racks in cedar!

Yet Another Custom Wood Wine Rack

We recently received an email from a client who spent hours and hours looking for the perfect wine rack for his space (yes, I did punish my search engine optimization specialist for this!!). His situation was unique in the sense he had a pillar in his condo he wanted to mount wine racks on but couldn't find the right wine rack for the space. After speaking with him, we got the dimensions of the space, and custom built a wine rack to fit the space.

Usually when we mention the word "custom" to our customers, the next question that follows is "how much will that cost me?". Sure there is a certain nuance with the word custom that is often associated with expensive or costly. But at Wine-Wall.com, our manufacturing process is set up in a way that each wine rack is "custom" made. We simply offer wine racks in the 3 bottle configuration (The Exibit-3) and a 6 bottle configuration (The Exibit-6) simply because these have been the most demanded wine rack size and these 2 configurations can be set up to fit any space from a small space under a cabinet to a complete wine cellar or wine closet.

So next time you find yourself decorating and wish you had the "perfect" wine rack for the space, consider Wine-Wall.com as your wine rack provider, we will work with you to outfit your space and give you a unique, innovative and customized wine storage solution.

Here are a few more examples of customized wine racks we've done for clients:

The Exibit-1 Is Ready To Order!

At last, the day has come! After 6 months of planning and development, we've finally taken into consideration your input, feedback and advice and have redesigned the Exibit-1 Wine Rack Saddle. With over 10,000 of these saddles mounted across the United States, Canada and Europe, we are excited to launch the new look for this product and is now available for sale.

We've completely redesigned the look of the saddle to have a more elegant rather than industrial look. Clean, round lines, simple mounting holes and a newly customized saddle that accommodates virtually all wine bottle shapes!

Over the past 7 years, our customers have used these wine saddles to mount virtually any wine bottle, any place:
  • Under kitchen cabinets for quick "off-the-counter" access
  • In wine closets to accent current wine racks
  • Under stairs to maximize wine storage use
  • In bar rooms as decoration or show-pieces for those prized wine bottles
  • In wine cellars to come up with virtually any wine storage patterns.

The greatest feedback we've received from our customers is how versatile the Exibit-1 Wine Rack System is. With as little or as many wine saddles you can perfectly decorate and make use of any space you have.

Still not convinced about how great this product is? For the next little while, ALL wine-wall.com wine rack orders will have a free sample (2 saddles - enough to mount 1 bottle) included.

Customized Exibit Wine Rack

Over the past seven years Wine-Wall.com has been serving customers with wine racks and wine accessories, we've received many requests to see if we customize our Exibit line of wine racks to meet a specific need. Often, the Exibit-3 (a 3 bottle wine rack) and the Exibit-6 (a 6 bottle wine rack) were either too little or too much for the client's wine storage needs. As a result, we're always more than delighted when a customer decides to work with us to create a wine rack that will accommodate their wishes.

Recently, a customer emailed us with dimensions for a "cavity" they had in a wall and they felt it would be perfect for a wine rack. However, the "Exibit-3" was too small and the "Exibit-6" was too big. We told the customer to leave the dimensions with us and we'd come up with a nice solution for them. After working with the dimensions and a few samples, we came up with the "Exibit-4" - a wine rack perfectly customized to accommodate the space required by the client.

Over the years, we've received a lot of feedback from clients and realized people preferred the 3 and 6 bottle solutions. However, our manufacturing process is scalable enough to accommodate anywhere from 2 to 24 bottles (yes, we did build an Exibit-24 for a local wine cellar!!). So, with that being said, if you like our Exibit line of wine racks but would like to see more or less bottles per rack, email us! We'll be more than glad to work with you!

The "In-Home" Cellar - A Luxury We CAN All afford

Having recently been to a wine tasting party hosted by a colleague, I had the chance to mingle and chat with other "amateur" wine enthusiasts about wines, the industry and other related topics. While chatting within a group I was completely shocked to hear someone say "yeah - these wines are great but I'd hate to buy them and have them spoil at home..." he later went on to clarify that he felt he didn't have the appropriate storage space to keep a collection of good-to-decent wines in fear that the conditions would eventually spoil them over time.

The shocking part was that within the group of 6-7 people I was speaking with, 4-5 of them nodded and agreed with the comments! Right away, I thought to myself, if 4 out of 7 people think they are unable to purchase good wines due to storage, the wine industry is doing a poor job marketing their products.

Being in the industry, I thought I would do my duty ;) and try to improve on that statistic by shedding some light on how practically EVERY home owner can have adequate wine storage facilities at an affordable cost.

First the basics. In order to store wine, here are the IDEAL conditions:
  1. Keep your wine bottles away from direct sunlight
  2. Avoid large fluctuations in temperature and keep within 50ºF and 60ºF (10ºC - 15ºC).
  3. Avoid extremely dry conditions and aim for a humidity level of 50% (Not too dry, not too humid)
  4. Keep the area well ventilated.

All the above factors basically aid in allowing the wine bottle to age without any external factors like sunlight or odors hampering the aging process.

Lucky for us, these conditions can simply be duplicated in any type of home whether it be a condo, a home with or without a basement.

If you live in a house with a basement:
You've got it made! About 90% of homes with a basement usually come with a little cold room or storage build in to the foundation as displayed by the following video submitted by one of our customer. These types of room are ideal as they almost perfectly meet the requirements for an ideal wine storage setting.

If you live in a condo or home without a basement:
Pantries, closets, kitchen cabinets are all adequate places for wine storage. Ideally, you want to find a south-facing wall that doesn't get sun exposure and doesn't heat up throughout the day. Most homes are always somewhat humid (ranging between 30-40% depending where in the country you live) so you never have to worry about having the cork dry up on you. Here are some pictures of wines being stored in this fashion.

Wine And The Kitchen

Are you wondering what "wine" and "kitchen" have in common? Well, over the past few years, we've had a lot of customers ask us what's the best way to incorporate wine within a kitchen. The way the kitchen is evolving, it is becoming more of a social setting (where people hang out and socialize) as well as a functional setting (for cooking, preparing meals etc...). People are now making their kitchens bigger and also combining their dining room within the walls of the kitchen.

We thought it would be a great idea to post a blog about how you can turn your kitchen into a "wine-ready" kitchen to accommodate for easy socializing and convenient gourmet cooking!

Over the past few years we've received some fabulous picturesWine Rack In The Kitchen of customers decorating their kitchens with wine racks purchased at Wine-Wall.com. Not only is this a neat way to add a decorative piece to a room but it also serves 2 purposes. Since most people gather in the kitchen, you are able to create a conversation piece by displaying a neat wine rack and some wines mounted on the wine racks. Many wine racks now mount wines in a way that allows the labels to be displayed (such as our Wine Tube wine rack) rather than the pigeon hole wine racks which hides the wines. Although these wine racks are functional in a cellar setting, for decorative purposes, wine racks that display the bottle and labels nicely make for a much nicer presentation. Check out our wine racks section on our website (click here). Wine-Wall.com takes pride in only selling wine racks that showcase your wines!

Wine RacksThe second purpose for ALWAYS having wine in the kitchen is because wines make a great cooking ingredient. I won't go into any recipes (I'm sure Google can help with that!) but will tell you some basics that will turn your mac'n'cheese cooking skills into gourmet chef-like skills!

As I'm sure you've heard in wine reviews, articles and other wine books, wines can be sweet, dry, fruity, nutty and a multitude of other flavors. When cooking consider these flavors and integrate them within the recipe. Instead of putting sugar, try putting a cup of a sweet fruity wine like a Merlot or a Port or a Sherry. One of my favorite recipes is Chicken with Sherry (there's your Google search terms!!) where the sherry is reduced to a syrup like consistency and then glazed on a chicken and roasted. Reductions help intensify the flavors of wine and make great sauces or glazes.

All this being said, you really can't get motivated until you try it and you really won't try it unless a bottle of wine is staring you in the face as you decide what's for dinner tonight or what can I serve my guests coming over!?

So pick a spot in your kitchen, mount a wine rack, fill it with wines and voila! For under $100 bucks you've just become a better cook, an innovative interior decorator and a socialite!

Holiday Drinking & Driving: Some Tips For Hosts

Once again the holidays are upon us and unfortunately a statistic always creeps up around this time of year - that of accidents caused due to drinking and driving. The surprising thing is that many of these accidents and even deaths can easily be prevented with some simple preparation and a product that Wine-Wall.com is always glad to sell during the holiday season - The "Arrive Alive Breath Tester."

This unique product is a single-use, disposable breath tester that calculates the blood alcohol level in your system. You simply blow in the bag, wait a few minutes and the indicator clearly shows you if you are over or under the legal blood alcohol level. This product is no gimmick and is certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), used roadside by police throughout the world and especially used by responsible adults throughout America who host parties, and events for their friends and families.

To view and order the "Arrive Alive Breath Tester" visit our website at www.Wine-Wall.com or click here to go directly to the product page.

Also, remember these tips when hosting a party or an event over the holidays:

  1. Always offer non-alcoholic drinks as an alternative
  2. Serve alcoholic drinks yourself so you know how many drinks each individual has had.
  3. Have plenty of food available and remember that salty snacks cause people to drink more!!
  4. Have plenty of cash available for cab fare and be prepared to have some overnight guests
  5. As people arrive, remind them there will be alcohol served and they should be prepared to take a cab home or use a designated driver - this can also be done ahead of time on the invitation or when you mention the event to your friends and family.
  6. Stop serving alcohol a few hours before the end of the party. At this point you can offer non-alcoholic drinks and give your guests a few hours to sober up.
  7. Try not to drink too much yourself. This will allow you to be aware of your guests and to judge the level of intoxication more effectively. If you can't judge whether someone is intoxicated easily YOU ARE INTOXICATED!

Remember that you are legally liable for damages caused to your guests while in your home and even after they've left.

Have a safe and happy holiday season from Wine-Wall.com

Converting A Basement Wall Into A "Wine-Wall"

Over the past few years, we've had many customers ask us what's the best way to create a long term wine storage area within their homes. Since establishing a proper wine cellar or wine room in a home can be quite the costly home renovation project, this next solution is one that will meet anyone's wine decorating budget and still achieve similar results.

The products featured here are available at www.Wine-Wall.com . The specific product used here was the Exibit-6 wine rack. However, depending on your budget and style, many other wine racks can be used for this purpose.

Step 1 - Choose Your Wall

Choose a wall in your basement. Preferably one that isn't high traffic, doesn't get much light and isn't close to any heat source (for example: furnace, washer/dryer). In most parts of the world, a south facing wall is usually the best choice as the sun never directly hits that wall and is usually the coldest wall in the home.

Step 2 - Smooth Out Any Imperfections

Most concrete walls have imperfections, dents and holes. A good hammer and some poly fill should smooth out the wall and get it ready for the next step. You're not really looking for perfection here (unless you are a perfectionist!!) simply some cosmetic changes to get rid of the cold looking basement wall.

Step 3 - Paint It

Once the wall is smooth, choose a paint, design pattern or any other decorating style you might like to have on your wine wall. I simply chose to paint the wall white. A few design tips: Using stencils or those fancy "wall tatoos"that are now en vogue are perfect ways to personalize and decorate your "Wine Wall"

Step 4 - Mount Your Wine Racks

I used a cement bit on a hammer drill, pre-drilled the holes and inserted a plug. Then, lining up the wine rack, I mounted them with 2" drywall screws that fit into the plug. Ideally you want to make sure the wine rack is well secured since it will be holding full wine bottles. (on average, a wine bottle weighs 3-4 pounds!)
