Holiday Drinking & Driving: Some Tips For Hosts

Once again the holidays are upon us and unfortunately a statistic always creeps up around this time of year - that of accidents caused due to drinking and driving. The surprising thing is that many of these accidents and even deaths can easily be prevented with some simple preparation and a product that Wine-Wall.com is always glad to sell during the holiday season - The "Arrive Alive Breath Tester."

This unique product is a single-use, disposable breath tester that calculates the blood alcohol level in your system. You simply blow in the bag, wait a few minutes and the indicator clearly shows you if you are over or under the legal blood alcohol level. This product is no gimmick and is certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), used roadside by police throughout the world and especially used by responsible adults throughout America who host parties, and events for their friends and families.

To view and order the "Arrive Alive Breath Tester" visit our website at www.Wine-Wall.com or click here to go directly to the product page.

Also, remember these tips when hosting a party or an event over the holidays:

  1. Always offer non-alcoholic drinks as an alternative
  2. Serve alcoholic drinks yourself so you know how many drinks each individual has had.
  3. Have plenty of food available and remember that salty snacks cause people to drink more!!
  4. Have plenty of cash available for cab fare and be prepared to have some overnight guests
  5. As people arrive, remind them there will be alcohol served and they should be prepared to take a cab home or use a designated driver - this can also be done ahead of time on the invitation or when you mention the event to your friends and family.
  6. Stop serving alcohol a few hours before the end of the party. At this point you can offer non-alcoholic drinks and give your guests a few hours to sober up.
  7. Try not to drink too much yourself. This will allow you to be aware of your guests and to judge the level of intoxication more effectively. If you can't judge whether someone is intoxicated easily YOU ARE INTOXICATED!

Remember that you are legally liable for damages caused to your guests while in your home and even after they've left.

Have a safe and happy holiday season from Wine-Wall.com

Converting A Basement Wall Into A "Wine-Wall"

Over the past few years, we've had many customers ask us what's the best way to create a long term wine storage area within their homes. Since establishing a proper wine cellar or wine room in a home can be quite the costly home renovation project, this next solution is one that will meet anyone's wine decorating budget and still achieve similar results.

The products featured here are available at www.Wine-Wall.com . The specific product used here was the Exibit-6 wine rack. However, depending on your budget and style, many other wine racks can be used for this purpose.

Step 1 - Choose Your Wall

Choose a wall in your basement. Preferably one that isn't high traffic, doesn't get much light and isn't close to any heat source (for example: furnace, washer/dryer). In most parts of the world, a south facing wall is usually the best choice as the sun never directly hits that wall and is usually the coldest wall in the home.

Step 2 - Smooth Out Any Imperfections

Most concrete walls have imperfections, dents and holes. A good hammer and some poly fill should smooth out the wall and get it ready for the next step. You're not really looking for perfection here (unless you are a perfectionist!!) simply some cosmetic changes to get rid of the cold looking basement wall.

Step 3 - Paint It

Once the wall is smooth, choose a paint, design pattern or any other decorating style you might like to have on your wine wall. I simply chose to paint the wall white. A few design tips: Using stencils or those fancy "wall tatoos"that are now en vogue are perfect ways to personalize and decorate your "Wine Wall"

Step 4 - Mount Your Wine Racks

I used a cement bit on a hammer drill, pre-drilled the holes and inserted a plug. Then, lining up the wine rack, I mounted them with 2" drywall screws that fit into the plug. Ideally you want to make sure the wine rack is well secured since it will be holding full wine bottles. (on average, a wine bottle weighs 3-4 pounds!)

The Wine Tube: A Product Review by WineLog.net

We recently had the people at WineLog.net - a site where people can post wine tasting notes and gather recommendations on wines they'd like to try - post a review for our best selling wine rack, the Wine Tube. Here's what they had to say:

"It’s nearly the holiday season, so you’re probably asking yourself an important question: Other than the wines on my wish list, what can I put on my list for Santa?

How about a Wine Tube?
An elegant and stylish wine rack tube fabricated in stainless steel and will hold 12 wine bottles. This design allows for your wines to be displayed horizontally and labels can be placed so that your collection can be seen hands-free. Wine racks come with mounting hardware included.

The folks at Wine-Wall.com sent us a wine tube, and I can confirm its elegance and ingenuity. Well, I don’t know if I would use the word “elegant”. To me, the design is more “industrial” than “Victorian”, more appropriate in a downtown loft than in grandma’s house (unless you have one of those uber-hip grandmas). Of course I mean all of this in the kindest sense. And the stainless steel rack is very chic and wouldn’t look out of place in some fancier settings.

Why choose the Wine Tube over other wine racks?
Most wine racks that hold a similar number of bottles are counter top models. I ask you, what person isn’t looking to get a little more counter space in their kitchen or bar? The Wine Tube stores your everyday wine on an empty wall, so you can take down that fake art you bought at Ikea and display something you are truly passionate about in its place.

Of course, you’re not limited to only one Wine Tube — so if your wine storage needs go beyond the 12-bottle mark, try arranging multiple Wine Tubes in a line down a hallway or basement wall."

As always, feel free to visit our website to see this product and many more!

VineYard Tracker Wine Management Software

Over the past few years, sales for our VineYard Tracker Software have been extremely good! So good that we've recently decided to drop the price extremely below cost (originally priced at $29.99 - now $0.99!!!) so that we can get rid of this software version and make room for our improved upgraded version.

Vineyard Tracker is a no hassle, extremely easy to use software to manage the wines in your cellar or in your collection. With the use of very basic buttons you can add a wine, delete a wine or view what's in your possession.

The "New Wine Entry" screen allows you to enter as much information as you would like such as name, winery, website, contact info, personal rating (star system from 1-5), region, type, cost, date purchased and varietal. Also, you can enter taste information such as bouquet, aroma and even food pairing. Finally, there is a "notes" section for additional information you might want to include. I personally use this to write down when is the best drink date and any other neat facts that would make great conversation piece!

The software also comes with a neat print feature that allows you to print a "sales sheet" of the wine in question so that you can show company when drinking the wine or in the event you are giving the wine as a gift, you can include the notes to educate them.

For that wine lover on your wine list, this is a great and affordable gift or stocking stuffer. At this price, it won't be around for long so check out our website at Wine-Wall.com or visit the product page by clicking here.

Here is a screen shot of the "New Wine Entry" window:
